To increase and improve the technical safety and raise the safety awareness at Vopak terminals in Sweden Vopak Nordic have launched a programe called "Sund & Säker" (Healthy & Safe). The fundamentals of the concept are to train all personnel, operators as well as white-collar workers, to think safety in all situations. This will lead to changes in equipment, procedures and the way we are communacating. This includes suppliers, customers, drivers and all people visting are terminals. Sund & Säker also aims to raise the awareness of safety & health among the contractors operating in the terminals.

One major step to increase the safety is the building of tank containment. In many European countries there is an obligation of containment at tank terminals. Therefore, and to be a leader rather the follower, Vopak Nordic has decided to build secondary containment in all terminals, starting Q1 2007.
